The Oak Green Issue

One car. One owner. Twelve pages.

Green

A 992.2 Carrera 4 GTS, specced by someone who grew up under Douglas firs and ordered the car to disappear into them.

The owner

He didn't pick the color.
He grew up in it.

Nate was born in Eugene, learned to drive on the logging roads of the Coast Range, and has never lived more than an hour from the Willamette. When the 992.2 configurator went live, he says the paint decision took “about as long as it takes to look out the window.”

The 4 GTS wasn't a status pick. It was a weather pick. All-wheel drive for eight months of wet pavement, the hybrid's instant torque for the short, broken straights between corners on the old Columbia River Highway, and a body that still reads as a 911 from a hundred yards away through the rain.

What he wanted, in his words, was “a car that looks like it belongs parked at a trailhead, not a valet stand.” Hence the green. Hence the black wheels. Hence nothing chrome anywhere on it.

“Every other 911 in this color code is in a garage in Beverly Hills. Mine gets fir needles on it.”

The color

Oak Green
Metallic Neo

Porsche's 2025 reinterpretation of a 1970s shade. In direct sun it is a bright, almost British racing green. In Pacific Northwest overcast it drops two stops and reads as forest shadow. Both are correct.

Photographer's note: we shot this car in flat light on purpose. Hard sun turns metallic greens into something louder than the owner wanted. Overcast is what this spec was designed for.

Three questions

Would you order it again the same way?
Same paint, same wheels. I'd skip the carbon interior and put that toward a second set of wheels for winter tires.
What do people get wrong about green cars?
That they're a risk. Resale on this color is better than black. Black is the risk.
Best road within two hours?
The Historic Columbia River Highway at 6 a.m. in October. Fog on the river, sun on the Gorge walls. Nobody else out.
